Motivation for Spiritual Increase

Motivation for Spiritual Increase
Psalms 115 – read the whole chapter

12   The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

13   He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

14   The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

15   Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.

16   The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

17   The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

18   But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.
Fear the Lord- The reverential awe of God. The utmost respect for God.. Respect for his words, respect for His presences, respect for the work of his hands. The fear of the Lord is to love God and Hate sin.

It is certainly to love what he loves and hate what he hates. To cling to what is good and to push away that which is evil. That you may increase in all good things.
Ultimately, You must take responsibility for your own increase and spiritual development.
Now don’t get me wrong God gives the increase… But we are responsible for the planting and the watering.
1 Corinthians 3:6-8

6   I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7   So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8   Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
They are one – one in labor united for increase. You have surrounding you a united support system that is dedicated and focused for your increase and spiritual development. But you still have a responsible part to play.
You have got come to the fountain and you have to drink.

It starts with Spiritual discipline and ends in joy.
Even though you know that if you don’t do it no one else will, you may still struggle with having the motivation.
It’s like that one room in your home

the garage/ attic, basement or maybe a storage room. Over time things build up, get cluttered, dusty, dirty,

The place you put all the things you know you need to deal with but for whatever reason you just can’t deal with it right now.
Unmotivated – lack of interest or enthusiasm
Why?
Time- this boils down to one thing you don’t feel it is a priority. People make time for what they want to do.
Ephesians 5:15-17

15   See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16   Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17   Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
John 9:4

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Overwhelmed – so many things that need to change… Where do I start?
Mark 9:23-24

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Unknowledgeable- I don’t know how to fix this. It will take study.
Hosea 4:6 (KJV)

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Cycles of lethargy- Seek him diligently

1 Chronicles 28:9

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
2 Chronicles 15:1-2

1   And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2   And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The seed is in itself

Genesis 1:11

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

If you are in strife you have the seed of strife in you and when you talk you plant it.
If you are in faith you have the seed of faith that when you speak produces more of what you have

The Weight of Honor

Honor- (kabad = weighty, heavy) honor is a heavy esteem and respect laid upon the shoulders of one who has faithfully fulfilled (honored) their commitments in the midst of great hardship and danger. But we must not overlook that Honor may also carry the burden of future responsibility.
The person honored has shown greatness in the past. Those that labor in the word and in doctrine the Bible says are worthy of double honor. But the honor we give to God belongs to God alone. The highest honor is God’s. He alone deserves the respect that we can give to him, for what he has done no other man was able nor worthy to accomplish. But He is also laden with a responsibility greater than can be placed upon any man. For in Jesus Christ alone do we have our confidence. Just as He has proven in the past, He is also willing to handle the battles in your future.

So when we honor God we are saying to him; “thank you for what you have done and I now realize how reliant I am on you.” I honor you Jesus and my confidence is in you.

All honor and all glory be unto the spotless Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world.

The blood, the priest, and the mercy seat

The blood, the priest, the seat of mercy
Philippians 3:7-11But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ; And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
**Man, without the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, are entirely depraved. Full of wicked intentions, and selfish desire. It is easy to look at the murderer, the rapist, the heinous criminal and say they are completely lost and depraved. But we must realize that even on our best day we could not obtain the level of Gods holiness he desires of us. For this reason the only hope for any man is the mercy of a loving God.
The blood – it represents the making of sacrifice, it represents the giving of life.
The priest – The standard of holiness, (God said don’t do this so that the people will see a difference between righteousness in unrighteousness). The mediator of righteousness, The responsibility of carrying the blood (the sacrificial life) into the holy of holies
The mercy seat- was the lid of the ark of the covenant. (the seal upon the testimony of Gods Word and promise.) Inside the ark was the laws of God written on two tables of stone (The Commandments of God) The rod of Aaron that budded (The appointment of God) pot of manna (The miraculous provision of God) Under watchful eye of the cherubim. The space in between was the oracle of God.
1 John 4:7-10Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation “hilasmose” for our sins.
“propitiation” from the Greek word hilasterion. Concretely it specifically means the Lid of the Ark (in the Temple) (Strong’s Greek Dictionary). The only other occurrence of the Greek hilasterion in the New Testament is in Hebrews 9:5, where the NASB translates it as “mercy seat”.
Hebrews 9:5And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
If you love someone you are willing to do what ever it takes to see total restoration.
Jesus was willing to become the sacrifice the priest and the mercy seat.
Love is not the feeling that you have when you see goodness in others. Love is the action you make in spite of what you see in others.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
John 15:13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Say Yes To Jesus

Say yes to Jesus
Youth pool party

I woke up this morning around 4 o’clock thinking about this time that I would have with you. I spent several hours wondering how I could make the most out of this time that I have in front of you.

I have decided to Set the record straight. You have been lied to for so long and I want to tell you the truth.

Look up to the sky. what do you see? A little higher what’s there? A little further out?

People are continually researching and discovering what is out there. Scientists have discovered Other Worlds and galaxies and solar systems.
Everything discovered and yet to be discovered every system has been so specially designed and created by a creator. It is too intricate and wonderful to have happened by coincidence. In the words of Gibbs from NCIS, “there is no such thing as coincidence.”
Here is the truth. God Jehovah, who is so much bigger and greater than you and I, created every detail of every good and perfect thing that is enjoyed.

The Bible says that not only did he create the worlds and systems in the sky but every living thing on the earth and he created it with purpose.

He created mankind in his own image and likeness and therefor gave us creative power.

Think about it. Here you are. Sitting here under the heavens that have great purpose. And just as much thought and planning and design was wrapped up in the creation of you. You are beautiful. You are so wonderfully made. With all complexity of flesh and bone and systems and emotions and thoughts and talents and personality. Look around you With all of this inner and outer beauty who could say there is no God? In fact the Bible says it is foolish and that only a fool says in his heart that there is no God. Plenty may say it with their mouth but only a fool would say that in their heart and believe it.

You have been created with great purpose and design.

In God’s perfect plan a man and a woman joined together in a binding commitment of married love. Each offer a seed full of creative power. That small seed develops and grows until strong enough with proper care to survive the elements of this great world. A baby is born. But the greatest thing about baby’s is this, every child born is born with an eternal spirit and soul. Which means this. This child will grow into a teen and then an adult. He or she will make choices in there life. Some maybe good or bad. But when they finally close there eyes for the final time and sigh this incredible body will die. But their soul (feelings emotions personality thought and spirit (that inner light that causes one to live). will survive eternally.
So what then? When this body is laid to rest 6feet underground, what’s next? Well that depends. There are 2 destinations.

1. You could be in the presence of your loving creator and Heavenly Father. In a place called heaven yes but also strategically placed in and given power over his creation. Free to go and come and rule with loving authority. Able to create and live and socialize forever in a vast and endless world and worlds that will take eternity to explore. There will be no death or pain or tears nor rejection or fears. No disease no one used or abused. No hatred or prejudice. No murder or rape or deceit.
2. You could be separated forever from the presence of a loving God. Dragged kicking and screaming into a place called hell. A place that was not made for you but was made for the devil and his fallen angels. A place if continual pain and anguish both physically mentally and spiritually. Where men naw their toungs for pain and wish that they could die to find relief but cannot and will not. A place of solitude and outer darkness. Alienated from all others tormented by your own selfish decisions and thoughtless actions. In eternal judgement for the wickedness of your sinful deeds.

So this day it is set before you life and death. Blessing and cursing.
Your eternal destination depends solely on your decisions right now.

God is real heaven is real
The devil is real hell is real
You are real I am real and this moment is real and the decisions you are about to make is real. What decision is that?

Decision 1. What will you do with the life that you have been given?

Will you choose to live that life selfishly? fulfilling your own selfish desires, while defrauding and insulting and cursing and cheating and hurting and hating those around you. And at the same time taking your own self and the body that God has so wonderfully created and smudge and cut and abuse and deface and disgrace it.
Or will you choose to live unselfishly putting others before yourself. Using your words and your talents to build up and encourage and show Gods love to those around you while you glorify God in your body and with your thoughts and actions. How will you choose to live out the days of your life?

Decision 2. And how do you expect to pay for the sinful choices you have already made?
All have sinned
The wages of sin is death
Sin has to be paid for. I have told you the truth hell was not created for you. It was created for the devil. But if you go there it is because you chose to go there. For death, separation from God, and hell is the payment for sin.
But you don’t have to go there.
God so loved you that he gave his only son Jesus to die for you. He went to hell he paid for your sin in full. He resurrected with the keys of authority over death hell and the grave in his hand.
You can choose Jesus. You can believe on him and receive eternal life.
Today is the day of salvation. Will you choose him today? Will you choose life and heaven?
Say yes to Jesus. Time is running out.

The faith dimension

The faith dimension
Dimension- a property of measurable space.

We are living in a three dimensional world. Everything is measured by length width and depth

There is a fourth dimension

Scientists have been trying to study this dimension, they call it quantum physics. It is the behavior of molecules at an atomic level. A dimension of phenomenon sometimes things happen that cannot be measured through normal scientific measurements.

Illustration – the gathering of photons when acted upon by exterior energy.
Illustration- light absorbed, transferred, and reflected.

Scientists will not be able to comprehend This dimension without the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

I would like to refer to this dimension as the faith dimension.

Faith- The deep conviction of the infallible word of God.

Faith nutrition- what feeds your Faith? The word of God.

Romans 10:17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith activation- what makes faith work? Hope is what puts your faith in action.

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hope – The painted picture of God’s vision on your heart

Faith impartation-how can you pass it on? Talk it, pray it, live it

2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

There can be a passing down of generational curses. In the same manner there is the possibility of passing down generational blessing. Spiritual gifts that reside in you may very likely be caught by your children.

This Present Judgment

This Present Judgment

Often times when we hear the word judgment and we think about an event that will take place that is called the Great White Throne Judgment. There will be a day of final Judgment. When God will judge once and for all the living and the dead. But there are judgments that are happening at this present time. These Judgments are made in the dispensation of Grace and will soon be followed by final judgments made in the outpouring of God’s wrath.

1. Self-Judgment

a. Search your own heart under the direct guidance of the Lord and be willing to change as God reveals impurities and imperfections. (1 John 3:19-24; 1 Corinthians 11:31-32; 1 Corinthians 4:1-4)

2. Discipline Judgment of God

a. (1 Corinthians 3:12-17; Hebrews 12:6-11 )

3. Righteous Judging the Righteous

a. God judges those outside of the church but the righteous are to judge among themselves. (1 Corinthians 5; Hebrews 13:7, 17)

4. The continual Judgment of the wicked (John 3:18; Psalm 7:11-13)

Philippians 3:17,18 (AMP)
Brethren, together follow my example and observe those who live after the pattern we have set you. For there are many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, who walk (live) as enemies of the cross of Christ, the Anointed One.

There is the pattern of the ungodly and the Pattern of the righteous. Worldly pattern and a heavenly. A pattern of Christ and the pattern of antichrist.

Pattern: an observable characteristic or behavior of a person, group, or institution.

One of the responsibilities of the righteous are to lead the ungodly into the truth.

1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

The scarcely saved is not meaning that they are barely living for Jesus…you cannot be righteous and barely living right. You’re not kind of saved. This idea that you can have one foot in the world and the other in the kingdom is a lie. Your either wicked or righteous, saved or damned,

No this is talking about the judgment that will come on the world. It will start in the house of God and then move into the rest of the world. At the last possible minute the righteous are saved from the destruction. There is a lot the people of God had to endure but in God’s people had to endure such how much greater will the judgment be upon those that are ungodly.

Philippians 3:10-11 (AMP)
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know him. That I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding [the wonders of His person] more strongly and more clearly. And that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers]; and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

Never Ashamed

Never Ashamed

Romans 10:11. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

1. For God will keep His Word

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Psalm 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.( firmly fixed, stands secure , set up and established ).

* when God says something you don’t have to wonder if he is ready to act upon it. If he said it, everything that is needed is all ready prepared set up and in order to make good on what he said.

Isaiah 55:8-11 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

2Timothy 1:8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

2. For Glory out ways Afflictions

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

The Lord Doesn’t promise and easy life with no trials- faith that is not tested can not be trusted.

Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

3. For Truth empowers freedom

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The word (make) is a progressive word. It means it empowers time and time again.

John 17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

The word becomes a sword when it comes from your mouth. It is the blessing of the Lord. It empowers to prosper.

Psalms 118:17

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

Whatever situation you are facing God has given you his word. If you speak and declare by faith the word of the Lord, you release the blessing of God into your situation. The word empowers your situation to turn around for your good. The word causes freedom.

The sword of the Spirit is your only offensive weapon in your arsenal. You only need one. Because the word is versatile. It can be used towards many different situations and it is unlimited it supply. You cannot exhaust the power in the word of God.

…So I know that what I’m going through is hard to handle. The suffering of this trial seems overwhelming. But I serve a God who speaks his word and is ready to act upon it. And I know that the suffering that I am facing right now cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed in me. So I will speak the word of the Lord with boldness and confidence. For he is not a liar and he will work for me. And as I speak this word it will empower my situation to change for my good. And his word shall make me free once again.

Romans 4:17(as it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.

Don’t quench the Spirit of God

Don’t quench the spirit of God

1 Thessalonians 5:19 “Quench not the Spirit.”
Holy spirit / ghost same thing

Ephesians 4:30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Quench- to extinguish or put out

Grieve – to cause sorrow or pain of mind or heart

The Spirit of God has not been denied deity in the church. But he has been greatly neglected and not greatly honored in today’s church. I fear in many cases the body of Christ today has quenched the fire of the Holy Spirit in our midst and caused great sorrow to the Holy Ghost.

I believe the greatest pain the Holy Ghost feels comes from the rejection and the quenching of his moving in our churches and our life.

There are some churches that exist and are very functional as an organization. But if the Holy Spirit would ever chose to leave that church they may never know it.

I am thankful to be a part of a church where the Spirit of the Lord with all nine gifts and all nine fruit are not only excepted but celebrated.

* I feel that most Christians and churches that grieve the Holy Spirit do so because they are unfamiliar with his work. If they understood the work of the Holy Spirit they may be more open to is moving.

Who is the Holy Spirit?
He is not a creepy ghost that brings fear. He does not haunt the souls of men. The Holy Spirit is not enthusiasm. He is Not energy (positive or negative) nor is he the personification of God. He is not acting like God or just representing God, but he is part of the triune deity of God. He is a person with all the characteristics of a person. He is God in us with us all around us. You must understand He is not a person like you and I bodily. He is not Measured by hight and weight or mass, He is a spirit being. He has substance. Personality, he can love and desire, and rejoice and grieve. He has will, passion, furry, and disgust. He is deity he is God and he is present here.

Because he is Spirit and not merely matter. He is not limited to space nor restricted in geography. Because he is not nearly matter he is able to transcend matter. He is able to move in and through vessels of substance. He is able to come in and work through you and I has we are open to the moving of the Holy Spirit in us. But he is also not limited to move in me and you at the same time. He is omnipresent. He has the ability to everywhere at once, and he can remain here and there and everywhere that he is welcomed.

Church history says he is God, we say he is God, but most importantly the Scriptures say he is God.

A W Tozer said And I wholeheartedly agree (mind you this is years before the Toronto blessing). He said. “I wouldn’t believe in the archangel if he came to Toronto with wings spread at 12 feet shining like an atom bomb just after it goes off, if he can’t give me chapter and verse.”

Psalm. 139:7 speaks of the Holy Spirit’s omnipresences… Whither shall I go from thy Spirit or whether shall I flee from thy presence.
Job 26:13 he is creator… By his spirit he garnished the heavens.
2corinthian 3:17 He is Called Lord.. Now the Lord is that spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
Commandment at Baptism. In father son and holy ghost.

The Holy Spirit never enters a man and let’s him live like the world. That is the reason some people reject the Holy Spirit.

John 16:7-10
Reprove the world of
1. Sin
2. Righteousness
3. Justice

Comforter – Paraclete (Greek. Advocate. Helper. One who stands on your behalf)
*The Holy Spirit is your advocate on Earth
*Jesus is your advocate in heaven
1 John 2:1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Reprove – elegcho (Greek). To expose convict and convince.
(To bring to light, acknowledgement, and understanding.
Even the spirit of truth which the world cannot receive

The ministries of the Holy Ghost
Five Paraclete function mentioned in the book of John
1. He is the ever present help. “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:15-17)
2. He teaches and reminds of truth. “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:25-26)
3. He testifies of Christ. “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.” (John 15:26-27)
4. He brings conviction. “Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going? Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer, and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” (John 16:5-11)
5. He gives prophetic revelation. “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.” (John 16:12-15)

Hide The Beer! The Pastors Here

Hide the beer! The pastors Here.

This was a song that the swirling eddies recorded talking about hypocrisy in many Christian colleges. In fact many Christian colleges banned this song from being played on campus.

Apparently talking about alcohol and Christianity is a touchy subject.

But let’s face it, alcohol consumption and things that surround that topic is kind of a hot topic right now among churches. I would like to address this issue.

Did Jesus drink wine?
Wasn’t he called the friend of sinners?
Wasn’t he partying it up?
Was the wine that Jesus drink alcohol?

Yes, there was alcohol in the Old Testament and New Testament.

Yes people got drunk back then too.

Yes there were drunken parties and orgies and the suchlike going on in the same way that it is today.

Yes Jesus did drink wine on several occasions recorded in Scripture, whether that was fermented or unfermented is debatable. Seeing that the word for grape juice in the Bible is translated wine and the same word for fermented grape juice in the Bible is also translated wine.

Yes Jesus’ accusers did hurl insults at him, trying to discredit his testimony by calling him “the friend of sinners.”

Yes Jesus is the sinner’s best friend for he is the only one who can bring total restoration and forgiveness to their lives.

Yes Jesus forgave those in sin and told them to sin no more.

No Jesus was not hanging out in these places full of sinful demonstrations. Nor was he taking part in their sin, nor was he sitting back and tolerating those behaviors around him.

No Jesus was not getting wasted with the boys at the lake.

Yes Jesus opened up his arms to all who wanted to draw close to Him. The sinner and the saint.

Yes Jesus did encounter all different types of people from all different walks of life. Many that needed healing deliverance salvation and miracles.

All Scripture must be judged by other scriptures to make sure that we have a full understanding concerning issues that we face. Let’s not just take one scripture and use that scripture to justify our position.

Now let’s talk about the topic at hand.

Although the consumption of wine might be debatable scripturally. Revelry, which is drunken parties, and drunkenness is quite black-and-white.

I wrestled with this topic last year quite extensively when I was confronted with this idea of mixing alcohol with ministry. I have known this to be a hush hush topic in the past. As long as You don’t talk about drinking or the party life You lead no one will care enough to confront. However this has more recently become an open topic. Once again we see this progression of “Christian Culture” What was forbidden in one generation has been tolerated by the next and normalized by third.

Here is my take.
Too often I have seen alcohol destroy lives, families, and Christian witness. I have sat in counseling meetings with people who’s life laid waste because of alcohol abuse. I have seen alcohol consumption lead to Domestic abuse, adultery, divorce, abandonment, unemployment and much more regret. For these reasons I will never condone the drinking of alcoholic beverage. In fact I will stand against it as much as possible in discouraging such things.

Some may feel that I am old-fashioned in this area. Believe me I have done much thinking and praying on this subject. The Bible says that men are to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). I whole heartedly agree with this scripture. Each person needs to decide in his own heart and conscience how he or she should handle the subject of abstaining or not abstaining from alcoholic beverage. Then you must be true to your conscience. However in the area of drunkenness and attending bars and drunken parties the scriptures are quite clearly against these things. Christians are not to be a part of or contributing to this lifestyle. (See scripture below)

So as for me and those that are ministering with me I feel very strongly and therefore have raised the standard of ministry. I believe it is best for those in ministry need to be abstinent from alcoholic beverage and refrain from establishments that promote reveling. I’m not saying that you have to stay away from restaurants that may serve alcohol or have a bar in house. Or that you should not attend a wedding celebration or other special occasions where some people may choose to have alcohol. If you find yourself in an establishment or in a celebration where alcohol is present definitely live by conviction. If you are a part of ministry especially in the ministry at Liberty Church, refuse to drink alcohol. And if the celebration starts turning a bit wild it is probably your cue to gracefully bow out. And please do yourself, your church, and the kingdom of God a favor and “witness” somewhere else. Stay out of the bars and other drunken parties. Don’t go in. There are many other places that we can minister to the lost. Let’s focus on being a witness for God in our everyday lives. I believe God will bless us greatly as the standard is raised.

Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1 Peter 4:18-19 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?

James 4:4 – Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Ephesians 5:11 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them].

Galatians 5:16-26 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Opening and closing the spiritual doors

Opening and closing the spiritual doors in your life.

Proverbs 8:34 ESV

Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors

doorway or gate way is a point of entry and exit

There are no one-way doors in the spirit that I know of.

If I were to mention one possible one-way door it would be the lake of fire. I’m not so sure that God just doesn’t set a time to close that door of the lake of fire where no man nor spirit will ever exit again
God can open doors that no man can shut and he can close doors that no man can open.

Doors of salvation
Doors of faith
Access into the doors of God’s promise
Doors into heaven
Doors or gates into hell

Doors to your spirit
Gateway into your mind

Accessible doors to the Holy Ghost into your life

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

– Jesus is the door to eternal life.

John 10:9 ESV

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.

John 10:1-42 ESV

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” …

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Psalm 24:7 ESV

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

– door opening to heaven.
Revelation 4:1 ESV

After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

1 Corinthians 16:8-9 ESV

But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
