Bringing an offering in righteousness
Malachi 3:2-3 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD.
I believe we are in a time where God is purifying his people. The sons of Levi represent all of those who minister in the church. Don’t think well good thing I don’t volunteer I’m not a part of this. Doesn’t the new testament say that we are kings and priests unto the Lord. If you are a child of God you should be about your father’s business. We should all be workers in his church in someway.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
The reason we are chosen, the reason we are holy, the reason we are the special people of the Lord is that we might proclaim and show the world how great God is and what he has done in us.
You are anointed to carry the presence of the Lord and to demonstrate his power to the world.
But in order to have the anointing on your life in public it takes time in private seeking the presence of the Lord in giving an acceptable offering.
I. Never go into the presence of the Lord without an offering. 1Samuel 9:7-10
When you talk about offering time in church most people think it’s time to get my wallet. Your money is not the only offering to be offered.
1. Offering of your life. (Consecration to God) – The offering of your very life as a living sacrifice
2. offering of praise and worship
Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
3. Offering of talent -using your talent to bless the church facility or the people of God.
1 Peter 4:11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Exodus 35:10 Let every skillful man among you come, and make all that the LORD has commanded:
1 Peter 4:10. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
4. Offering of treasure. -offering anything that is precious to you.
2 Corinthians 9:7Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
II. Only an offering given in righteousness will be acceptable unto the Lord.
It is not the posture of your body but rather the posture of your heart that is important as you offer a gift to the Lord.
…Restoration of the meat offering. Joel chapter 1 & 2
The people have walked away from the Lord and out from under the blessing of the covenant.
Because of this they were no longer experiencing the blessings of God’s covenant with them.
Example: Provision, protection, Healing, restoration, forgiveness, and deliverance.
The meat offering was cut off.
God’s plan is to mobilize his mighty army in the last day. He wants to give us his kingdom. His army shall be great and powerful as in the first part of Joel chapter 2. In order for that to happen we must weep and repent. Must set ourselves apart onto God and control our sinful impulses.
In order for christians to be prepared for the return of Christ we must turn our hearts unto God.
Joel 2:14 Who knoweth if He will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind Him—even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?
The meat offering in Leviticus chapter 2
The meat offering was made specifically.
1. Freshly ground flour or corn beaten out of full ear-Provision
4. Unleavened bread- holiness
5. Set On fire- zeal of the Holy Spirit
